The 18-year-old made his senior debut for West Ham in the FA Cup last year.

And Baptiste was given his first start of the season for the senior team tonight at home against Dinamo Zagreb.

The youngster played at the heart of the Hammers’ defence alongside fellow academy players Aji Alese, Harrison Ashby and Emmanuel Longelo.

Sonny Perkins in was the other under-23 player to start tonight and all five of them did themselves proud.

Baptiste was a real stand-out though.

The London-born teenager has so much composure and coolness in possession for someone so young.

If he continues to work hard and applies himself properly, the sky will be the limit for Baptiste.
