Declan Rice was magnificent for West Ham United against Chelsea at the London Stadium today.

The 22-year-old Hammers ace has been absolutely fantastic for us this season and he lived up to his usual high standards against Chelsea this afternoon.

He provided a layer of protection for our defenders. But he is so much more than a holding midfielder. His energy and dynamism can be matched by few in world football.

Rice is a genuinely world-class player, there is no doubting that.

And he keeps going from strength to strength.

It could be argued that he was partially to blame for Chelsea’s second goal but you can count the mistakes he’s made for West Ham on one hand.

The big challenge for David Moyes will be to keep him at the London Stadium.

West Ham fans react to Declan Rice display vs Chelsea

The Blues are one of the clubs believed to be interested in signing the 22-year-old.

We absolutely must match Dec’s ambition by spending in the transfer market in January and the summer in order to convince him that he can achieve his goals at West Ham.

Not only is Rice a great footballer but he is also an incredibly grounded young man. He won’t agitate for a move but if Moyes isn’t backed sufficiently, there may come a day when he leaves.

Hid performance today proved yet again just how important he is for West Ham.
