Paul Merson has made his prediction for the Aston Villa vs West Ham United Premier League clash tomorrow.

The Hammers travel to Villa Park having lost our first three games of the season whilst Aston Villa have only taken three points from their opening three outings.

This really is a huge game for both sides.

David Moyes has made some fantastic signings this summer. And the mood at the London Stadium is high with Lucas Paqueta believed to be en route to East London.

A win tomorrow against Villa will be a necessity, however, if we are to get our season back on track.

West Ham may well struggle against Villa though, according to Paul Merson…

Paul Merson makes Aston Villa vs West Ham prediction

The well-renowned football pundit believes that the Hammers could be in for a really tough afternoon in the West Midlands tomorrow.

Merson told Sportskeeda:

“This is going to be a good game. West Ham have had an absolute nightmare of a start to their Premier League season. They punched above their weight last year but are struggling at the moment. I thought West Ham were unlucky against Forest – if you play counter-attacking football, you have to score the first goal. Villa held on and got over the line against Everton, but they did lose against Crystal Palace. This is a big match for them. Steven Gerrard played a strong team against Bolton – that tells you everything you need to know. He needs to win matches. This is a massive match for both teams. Both sets of fans will be mad with a defeat here. I think whoever scores first wins this game. Aston Villa are playing at home, and I think they have a slight upper hand.”

Prediction: Aston Villa 2-1 West Ham United

Let’s hope Merson is wrong. A defeat for the Hammers tomorrow would be a complete and utter disaster.

Three points at Villa Park would get us right back on track this season.

Paul Merson think Aston Villa will pile more misery on West Ham though. A defeat really would be a huge blow for Moyes and his players.

Hopefully the boys prove their doubters wrong tomorrow, Paul Merson in particular.
