Football pundit Paul Merson believes West Ham are on the brink of a ‘massive result’ in more ways than one as they head to Leicester.

West Ham face a Leicester side who have been in disarray of late when they visit the King Power on Sunday evening.

The perfect storm seems to be brewing for David Moyes and West Ham with the Foxes out of form and under pressure.

Brendan Rodgers’s side are struggling to defend set pieces, one of West Ham’s major strengths.

And the hosts have been rocked by the news their star player will not be signing a new contract and will have to be sold in the summer.

Ahead of the game, Merson told Sportskeeda he believes West Ham are on the brink of a ‘massive result’.

Not only in the context of the race for the European places but also their hopes of keeping their own star player, Declan Rice.

“This could be a massive result for West Ham,” Merson told Sportskeeda.

“They need to do well this season, because they might lose Declan Rice in the summer. A move to Manchester United or Chelsea could be a massive thing for Rice. Chelsea already have Jorginho, Kante, and Kovacic.

“United haven’t got any of those players – McTominay is a good midfielder but wouldn’t start for Chelsea. Man United need Rice more than Chelsea do, and they could break the bank for him.

“Leicester are all over the place at the moment, and this is a big game for them.

“Last week was a shocker for them, particularly against Nottingham Forest.

“With Leicester struggling, you’d expect West Ham to win this game. Prediction: Leicester City 1-2 West Ham United.”

West Ham fans will take that all day long.

The Hammers have an excellent record against Leicester under Moyes and have won the last three games against them 4-1, 3-2 and 3-0.
