West Ham have been boosted after Fabrizio Romano broke a story last night which will rock Sunday’s opponents Leicester.
West Ham got back to winning ways in the Premier League with a narrow 1-0 victory over Watford on Tuesday night.
It may not have been pretty, but in the fight for the European places during the run-in, it is the result that is all important.
Next up is Leicester City on Sunday.
And the perfect storm seems to be brewing for West Ham with the Foxes out of form and under pressure.
Brendan Rodgers finds himself under increasing scrutiny with Leicester down in 12th place and the manager finding himself question the desire of some of his players.
There have also been off the field issues for West Ham’s opponents following a 4-1 derby defeat to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup last weekend.
West Ham have had two days extra rest than Leicester going into the game after the Foxes were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool on Thursday night.
Now West Ham have been boosted further after transfer reporter Romano broke a story last night confirming Youri Tielemans will refuse to sign a new deal at Leicester and is likely to leave in the summer.
West Ham boosted as Fabrizio Romano breaks Youri Tielemans story which will rock Leicester ahead of clash
The news will be a big blow to Rodgers and Leicester and could seriously impact already low morale in the camp.
That can only be good news for West Ham who know a win would do their chances of European qualification the world of good.
“I’ve been told Youri Tielemans will NOT extend his contract with Leicester,” Romano revealed last night.
“New deal bid has been turned down – current one expires in 2023.
“Of course Youri will be professional, he’s focused on Leicester. Many top clubs want him for June.”
Romano went into more detail about the situation on his YouTube channel.
Leicester fans are already unhappy with several players and the Tielemans story will certainly not lift the mood.
If West Ham can keep Leicester quiet or even take a lead early on the atmosphere at the King Power could work against the home side.
The Hammers have an excellent record against Leicester under Moyes and have won the last three games against them 4-1, 3-2 and 3-0.
Rodgers is still likely to play Tielemans despite the Belgian midfielder’s decision to snub a new contract.
If Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek can do a job on Tielemans then the fans may turn on him too.
