David Moyes has been speaking to Jesse Lingard’s dad and still wants the midfielder at West Ham in the summer says an insider.

Just when you thought you had heard the last of the Lingard West Ham rumours for at least a few months, along comes the latest chapter in this tiresome saga.

We are well aware the majority of West Ham fans are sick to the back teeth of the Lingard talk.

Moyes clearly wanted the Man United bit-part player back at West Ham in January.

And had it not been for the situation surrounding Mason Greenwood, Ralf Rangnick insists he would have allowed Lingard to leave Old Trafford.

Whether the Red Devils would have allowed him to return to West Ham – where he was sensational on loan last season – is up for debate. Rumours last month claimed Man United did not want to let Lingard join a direct rival in the race for the European places.

In the summer that will not be an issue, though, as Lingard will be available on a free transfer.

Now Claret and Hugh claim a source at West Ham has confirmed Moyes remains interested in Lingard and wants to bring him back to the London Stadium in the summer.

Indeed the website claims Moyes has been in regular contact with Lingard’s dad Roy about a potential move.

“Come (the) summer there will be no transfer fee involved and the Hammers could offer the attacking midfielder a hefty signing on fee and decent basic wage with appearance and positional clauses,” Claret and Hugh state.

“We understand the manager and club were talking to Lingard’s agent father Roy regularly in January but with United playing hardball on the player there was little chance of making it happen.

“However, he will revisit the situation come summer when Lingard will be in a position to prove he wants the Hammers over the Geordies.”

Lingard was a late substitute but made little impact as Man United drew 1-1 at home with Southampton earlier today.

As a result West Ham remain in fourth place on goal difference.
