David Moyes needs to make emphatic Emerson Palmieri decision ahead of West Ham vs Fulham

Emerson Palmieri absolutely should start for West Ham United against Fulham this afternoon, ahead of Aaron Cresswell.

The Hammers seem to have found a bit of form with two wins in a row, having started the season in really poor form.

David Moyes’s men beat Wolves 2-0 at the London Stadium last weekend and followed that up with a 1-0 win away at Anderlecht in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday.

The challenge for West Ham now is to make it two Premier League wins in a row.

And in order to get the three points today, we believe that Emerson needs to start ahead of Aaron Cresswell.

The Hammers signed the 28-year-old on a five-year deal for around £13 million plus £2 million in achievable add-ons.

He hasn’t been used much in the Premier League by Moyes, but now is the time for that to change…

Emerson Palmieri needs to start for Fulham

Aaron Cresswell has regressed badly from a defensive perspective over the past year or so.

He is often found wanting positionally and his lack of pace leaves us badly exposed down the left hand side.

Meanwhile, Emerson has plenty of pace and he is a real threat going forward too.

In addition to that, the Italy international is technically brilliant as well. He has been described as a ‘superb’ player by Football.London.

Now, Cresswell’s ability from set-pieces is obviously something that West Ham will really miss. We do have the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta who are very good from dead-ball situations, however.

Cresswell has been a fine servant for the Hammers over the years.

He’s just not the same player anymore though. And we think that West Ham will have a far greater chance of beating Fulham today if Emerson Palmieri starts the game.
