Going into the game West Ham have had much the better of this particular fixture in the last decade, losing just once in the Premier League to Aston Villa in 14 matches since 2013.
It is a very different Villa this season under Unai Emery. But the same can be said of West Ham – who have 10 points more than the same stage last season with their new-look team.

And any suggestion that Paqueta may have been affected by his exclusion from the last two Brazil squads due to the allegations against him look way off.
If anything the opposite is true with the rest doing the player and West Ham a huge favour ahead of Villa judging by the footage.
Paqueta is putting on a clinic in West Ham training leaving his teammates and staff in awe of some of his skills and goals.
The Brazil midfielder looks ridiculously sharp, scoring goal after goal and pulling off some audacious skills in the video.
