David Moyes shares truly massive Kurt Zouma injury boost for West Ham after operation concerns

Kurt Zouma could be back and available for selection for West Ham United sooner rather than later, according to David Moyes.

That’s a huge boot for Moyes, it really is. Zouma, 28, has arguably been our best and most consistent performer so far this season.

With Nayef Aguerd currently battling injury and a virus, getting the French defender back and playing will be key to Moyes’s hopes of guiding the Hammers to a successful 2022/23 campaign on all fronts.

The 28-year-old centre-back underwent knee surgery in mid-November, and the initial prognosis suggested that he could be out for up to six months.

Having him unavailable for that period of time would have been an absolute disaster.

It seems as though that originally diagnosis was a long way from reality, however…

David Moyes provides Kurt Zouma update

West Ham have really missed the ex-Chelsea ace’s commanding presence along the backline when he hasn’t played for us.

The French centre-back may well be ready to feature for the Hammers sooner rather than later.

Moyes spoke to reporters yesterday and responded when asked how much longer Zouma will be on the sidelines for, as noted by Football.London:

Kurt’s doing really well, the virus he had a week and a half ago has probably put him back, where as if he hadn’t have had the virus, he probably would have been in contention. Now, we’ve got to try and get him up because of his fitness levels. His knee feels really good and he feels much freer with it. He’s not trained with us yet. He’s been out on the grass, he’s doing bits and pieces but he’s not quite ready to start training with us probably in the next few days with a bit of luck.

Hopefully Zouma starts to train again in the next few days.

And then the Frenchman may be available for selection in a week or so.

David Moyes desperately needs Kurt Zouma back playing again.

Let’s just hope that when he does return, he remains injury free for a prolonged period of time.
