David Moyes has set a specific return date for one West Ham star in a race to make the World Cup as he outlines his Nayef Aguerd plan.

West Ham splashed out £170m on eight quality signings in the summer.

And £30m of that was spent on West Ham’s first arrival of the window, Morocco star Aguerd from Rennes.

Unfortunately West Ham fans and manager Moyes have not seen much of the left-footed centre-back since.

The 26-year-old required ankle surgery after an injury in only his second West Ham appearance of pre-season against Rangers at Ibrox.

In Moyes’ own words – Aguerd is seen as one of West Ham’s most important signings of the window and fundamental to what the Scot is trying to build in this new-look Hammers side.

As most fans will be well aware, Aguerd has been stepping up his return by joining in some training with his West Ham teammates at Rush Green.

Last week Moyes delivered a hugely positive update on Aguerd’s injury recovery.

And Hammers captain Declan Rice reacted on social media to seeing the defender back training.

West Ham have posted more footage of Aguerd in training and looking in great shape.

With seven games between now and the break for the Qatar World Cup after the match against Leicester on November the 12th – time is ticking for West Ham’s £30m man to get some action and make the Morocco plane.

Aguerd is a key starter for Morocco. So proving his fitness should suffice to see him make the squad.

And now David Moyes has set a specific return date for the West Ham star in his race to make the World Cup as he outlines his Nayef Aguerd plan.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of the game against Bournemouth, Moyes says he is going to have to be careful with Aguerd’s introduction into competitive action.

But he believes November the 3rd’s Europa Conference League game against FCSB in Romania is looking the safest bet.

“We need him to get some feel for the game, we don’t want to shock him by throwing him in,” Moyes told Football.London.

“I think playing in the Premier League between now and the World Cup maybe more difficult, if you are looking at it that way, we will see how it would be.

“If I can get him fit for any part of Silkeborg (next Thursday) or any part of (FCSB) that would be great. It might just come a bit quick, the first one certainly, but I’m hoping that maybe these two games are a possibility.

“If I could fit in a (Under 21s) game from somewhere or somewhere which can get him 45 minutes, I might look to do so.”
