West Ham United goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski sent a very clear message to David Moyes after our 1-0 win over Lincoln City last night.

Lukasz Fabianski has fallen down the pecking order in the goalkeeping department at West Ham this season, and is now the club’s number two stopper behind Alphonse Areola.

Fabianski hit the headlines earlier this season when he shared his dismay at the fact he had been demoted to the number two goalkeeper at the London Stadium.

It was an uncharacteristic moment of unprofessionalism from the 38-year-old, and Hammers boss David Moyes would not have liked it one little bit.

Since then, the onus has very much been on Fabianski to prove to Moyes that he made the wrong decision.

And he didn’t do himself any harm whatsoever with his performance against Lincoln last night…

The Hammers goalkeeper was in fine form at the LNER Stadium last night, and played a crucial role in our 1-0 win.

Fab spoke to reporters after the game and made it very clear just how well he thought he performed against Lincoln, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“We knew coming into this game that it was going to be very difficult, very physical and very direct, so we wanted to be ready and to match their energy and I thought we did that very well. We got the result, maybe in a scrappy way, but the main thing was to get through to the next round. It wasn’t easy and the conditions not easy to deal with, so I thought we put in a very professional performance. The first half wasn’t too bad but in the second half we were playing against the wind and the ball can do many things in the air. All my goal kicks in the second half basically ended up in my own box! I believe I really helped the team on a few occasions and I felt really good out there on the pitch so I believe this was our first clean this season in official games, which is pleasing, and I played a big part in it, actually. There is big competition. I believe we have a strong squad and everyone tries to compete. We have loads of games in the league and in the cups as well and we want to progress in them, so even the players who don’t play in the Premier League as much are playing almost every week because of the amount of games we have.”

Lukasz Fabianski is clearly desperate to force his way back into the Premier League starting XI for West Ham.

The thing is, for that to happen he will probably need Areola to make a glaring error or to go through a patch of really poor form.

It just doesn’t seem like that will be happening anytime soon – the Frenchman has made some outstanding saves already this season.

The most positive take away from last night is that Fabianski still seems to be more than capable of being a top-class stand-in for the 30-year-old this season.
