Unforgivable West Ham error incoming if Moyes sells ‘impressive’ player Pep loves in the January window

West Ham United could be set to make a big mistake by selling ‘impressive talent’ in the January transfer window.

David Moyes has a lot of work to do in the January transfer window at West Ham, with numerous incomings and outgoings expected.

The Hammers boss needs to add more quality and pace to his front-line, but in order to do so, he may have to sell some players first due to FFP concerns.

One player who could be heading for the exit door is Maxwel Cornet with West Ham apparently prepared to sell him to Fenerbahce for around £6 million this winter.

I have to say, I really don’t get why Moyes is so reluctant to use the Ivory Coast international. And I definitely don’t understand the desire to sell him so cheaply in January.

If Moyes does let Cornet leave this winter, I think it would be a truly huge mistake from the Hammers manager…

Selling Maxwel Cornet in the January window would be a huge mistake from West Ham

The Hammers could be on the verge of making a really bad mistake by selling the Ivory Coast international.

We are a side totally devoid of any kind of pace and direct running as it is, and Cornet is one of the few players who can offer us those things.

Back in 2020 when Lyon beat Manchester City in the Champions League, Pep Guardiola praised Cornet, describing him as an ‘impressive talent’ (Chronicle).

The winger really impressed with Lyon and Burnley before he joined the Hammers, and he clearly is a very good player who just hasn’t been given a proper chance by Moyes.

Cornet must realise that his time at West Ham is finished while Moyes is still in charge. The Scot has barely played him this season, and the 27-year-old received the ultimate slap in the face when Moyes picked the unwell Pablo Fornals ahead of him on Sunday away at Fulham.

I strongly believe that Moyes will be making a massive error if he allows Cornet to leave West Ham in the January window, especially for such a nominal transfer fee.

Hopefully the Scot changes his mind and gives the Ivorian a chance to prove himself over the next few weeks, because I just know that he’ll end up regretting selling him if he does move him on this winter.
