Kurt Zouma disagrees with David Moyes after Fulham thrashing

David Moyes and Kurt Zouma weren’t exactly on the same page after Fulham thrashed West Ham United yesterday.

Fulham embarrassed Kurt Zouma and his West Ham teammates yesterday afternoon, and ended up beating David Moyes‘ side 5-0.

Zouma, 29, has been superb for the Hammers since moving to the London Stadium from Chelsea in 2021 but as things stand, there is no rush to renew his current contract that expires in 2025.

Despite the Frenchman’s solid and incredibly consistent performances for West Ham over the past two years, he was really poor against Fulham yesterday, and Moyes hooked him midway through the second-half.

After the match finished Moyes suggested that the hectic schedule and fatigued players cost his side dearly against the Cottagers.

However, Zouma was singing from a different hymn sheet after the 5-0 hammering yesterday…

Kurt Zouma disagrees with David Moyes

The Hammers skipper faced the media after our embarrassing Premier League defeat to Fulham in west London.

And Zouma responded when asked whether the players’ exertions against Tottenham in midweek had anything to do with the lethargic display against Fulham, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“I don’t know. Maybe, but we are professionals, and we are used to playing Thursday and Sunday even though physically it is hard, especially after the game we played against Tottenham which was very difficult, but there was nothing for us today, like I said. It was a very, very bad day and I feel sorry for the fans who came up. There is nothing to be said. We just have to go home, rest and recover and get ready for the next game.”

That’s how I want to hear my captain speak. No excuses – it really was a horror show in west London yesterday afternoon.

The players weren’t up to it, for whatever reason, and it will be absolutely vital for them to bounce back now against Freiburg and Wolves on Thursday and Sunday respectively.

The performance from the West Ham players against Fulham yesterday was totally unacceptable, but I prefer Kurt Zouma’s post-match response to the loss than David Moyes’s.
