It’s time for David Moyes to play 27-year-old West Ham United man in a completely new position.
West Ham boss David Moyes will be absolutely delighted with the start that his team have made to the 2023/24 campaign.

However, there is one player who hasn’t looked completely comfortable so far.

Nayef Aguerd has been pretty good for the Hammers on the whole since moving to the London Stadium from Rennes last summer for around £30 million.
However, he definitely has some weaknesses that are beginning to be exposed far too frequently for my liking…
Time for David Moyes to play 27-year-old West Ham man in a completely new position
Aguerd was decent last night against Luton but his positional play was really poor at times, and he just looked shaky on occasion.
Two weeks ago against Chelsea he ridiculously got sent-off after a pathetic, miss-timed lunge for the ball, and he was called out for his poor decision making by Jamie Carragher.
During the first game of the season against Bournemouth, Aguerd was run ragged by Dominic Solanke all game.

The ball over his shoulder into the left side of our defensive third just seems to be his Achilles’ heel right now, and it seems as though opposing teams are beginning to target him.
There is a simple solution to all of this as far as I’m concerned, if the Moroccan does not buck his ideas up – move him out to left-back to compete with Emerson Palmieri.
Aguerd has more than enough pace and technical ability on the ball to perform the left-back role. Crucially, having Aguerd at left-back would limit the damage that he can do with his poor positional awareness considering the fact that he’ll be further away from our goal.
David Moyes could then play Kurt Zouma and Konstantinos Mavropanos at the heart of West Ham’s defence. It’s just an idea, but one worth the Scot at least thinking about in my opinion.
