Simon Jordan completely misses the point as painful West Ham take backfires

Simon Jordan has just shared a painfully inaccurate take on the current situation at West Ham United.

West Ham are currently sitting in ninth spot in the Premier League table in spite of our 5-0 defeat to Fulham on Sunday, and Simon Jordan discussed the current goings on at the London Stadium on talkSPORT.

Hammers boss David Moyes is really feeling the heat after we got battered by Fulham a couple of days ago, and the Scot deserves huge criticism for starting the unwell and unfit Pablo Fornals, if nothing else.

Yes West Ham are sitting comfortably in mid-table right now, but the performances since September have been really poor in general.

Moyes has worked wonders since coming back to the London Stadium four years ago – he guided us to our first major trophy in 43 years and the fans will be forever grateful to him for that.

However, it kind of feels like the Scot has hit his ceiling. Can he take us any further? I really have my doubts, and that’s the point that Jordan was missing on talkSPORT yesterday…

Simon Jordan delivers West Ham verdict

I usually love what Jordan has to say about football in general, and he usually hits the nail on the head when it comes to West Ham.

However, this time the talkSPORT pundit swung and missed.

Jordan discussed why Moyes is getting such a hard time from some sections of Hammers fans, when speaking on talkSPORT yesterday:

“David has put them into a situation where he’s saved them from relegation, put them high up in the league, got them into Europe, won a European competition and sitting what ninth in the league? What are we talking about here, one game?”

Here’s the thing Simon, it’s not just one game. We have been really riding our luck this season, and that result on Sunday could have happened numerous times already during the 2023/24 campaign.

A few lucky wins have papered over the cracks, including our 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest, the 2-1 win away at Burnley and the three points we got against Tottenham could easily have gone the other way.

The system and playing style deployed by Moyes is a turgid brand of slow-paced, low energy and ultimately, unentertaining football.

Some fans have had enough of watching Moyes-ball and that’s fair enough. Has he worked wonders at the London Stadium? Yes. Has he taken us as far as he can? The answer to that question is yes as well in my opinion. Why can’t we demand a better style of football? Why can’t West Ham aim for higher?

There is this strange narrative in the media that little old Hammers fans should be grateful for the fact that we’re a Premier League team.

Simon Jordan’s latest take on West Ham was so wide of the mark as far as I’m concerned. We can be so much better than a run of the mill ninth placed Premier League side.
