Opinion: West Ham ace is light-years ahead of £44 million Liverpool star, it’s not a debate

West Ham ace Declan Rice proved that he is light-years ahead of Liverpool star Fabinho with his sensational performance at Anfield last night.

Rice was absolutely unbelievable for the Hammers against Liverpool, and in my opinion, proved that he is the best defensive midfielder in the Premier League.

Ally McCoist gave the 23-year-old the Man of the Match award – an almost unheard of occurrence for a player on the losing team.

The West Ham star gave one of his supposed peers Fabinho a real lesson.

The 28-year-old joined Liverpool from Monaco in the summer of 2018 for around £44 million (Daily Mail).

Since then, the 28-capped Brazil international has been one of the most consistent performers for Liverpool, winning the Premier League and the Champions League in the process.

Fabinho is obviously a very, very good footballer.

However, I think it’s fair to say that Rice is on a completely different level to the South American…

Sky Sports recently described the 28-year-old as the Premier League’s best holding midfielder.

I believe that last night was proof that he’s not even close to that though.

Declan Rice totally dominated the game, at both ends of the pitch, especially during the second-half.

Meanwhile, Fabinho started the game on the bench, and came on as a 58th minute substitute.

When the Liverpool star entered the fray, he was run ragged by Rice. The 23-year-old is a better tackler than Fabinho, better with the ball at his feet, a much better passer and has a far better engine.

Declan Rice is an absolute superstar and West Ham value him at around £150 million according to The Athletic.

Liverpool are one of the clubs credited with an interest in signing the 23-year-old Hammers midfielder.

His performance at Anfield last night surely made a huge impression on Jurgen Klopp.

And with Fabinho set to turn 29 in a few day’s time, the German may well be eyeing a summer swoop for the Hammers star as a potential long-term replacement for the Brazilian.

Declan Rice was absolutely unplayable for West Ham against Liverpool last night. And he proved that he is on a completely different level to Fabinho, in my opinion.
