How long will ‘low grade thigh tear’ keep Nayef Aguerd out of action, after the West Ham ace suffered an injury at the World Cup with Morocco?
The 26-year-old defender joined the Hammers from Rennes in the summer transfer window for around £30 million according to Sky Sports.
At the time, that seemed like a very good deal for the East London outfit, considering Aguerd’s quality and the fact that he was incredibly physically robust during his time in Ligue 1 and before that.
Unfortunately for him, his West Ham career is still yet to take off, having suffered an ankle injury during a pre-season clash with Rangers in July.
He made his comeback just before the break for the World Cup and looked like he would be a fantastic player for us. His performances for Morocco at the World Cup out in Qatar have been exceptional as well.

It really was a massive blow for him, his country and of course, West Ham United.
The tears from Aguerd as he left the pitch gave everyone in East London heart palpitations. It appears as though the injury isn’t as bad as first feared through, with club insiders Claret and Hugh suggesting that Aguerd suffered a ‘low grade thigh tear’.
But how long will ‘low grade thigh tear’ keep Nayef Aguerd out of action?
David Moyes will be desperate to have the 26-year-old centre-back available for selection as soon as possible. His future at the London Stadium may well depend on it, that’s how key the Moroccan is to the Hammers.
His ability with the football at his feet, composure in possession and rapid pace will enable us to play with a more possession-based style further up the pitch.
Hopefully Moyes will have Aguerd back and available for selection when Premier League action resumes…
How long will ‘low grade thigh tear’ keep Nayef Aguerd out of action?
Claret and Hugh reckon that this specific injury usually keeps a player out for between 1-3 weeks.
According to the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, a grade one thigh tear should be ‘rested from sporting activity’ for three weeks.
So taking the date when the injury occurred into account (Tuesday 6th December), Aguerd probably won’t even start training again until the day after Boxing Day.
So that means that the Moroccan will probably miss West Ham’s clash with Arsenal at the Emirates on December 26th.
The Hammers’ next game after that is a home clash with Brentford on December 30th, before we head to Elland Road to take on Leeds United on January 4th.
Depending on how quickly Aguerd gets back up to speed, perhaps he’ll be ready to play in either one of those two games.
The centre-back will obviously be desperate to feature for Morocco in their World Cup semi-final clash with France, but hopefully the manager will not risk him.

West Ham desperately need Aguerd back and playing regularly. His persistent injury problems are obviously a huge concern.
The good thing is that he didn’t injure the ankle that he had surgery on five months ago.
And who knows? Some athletes obviously heal quicker than others, it’s just the way that the human body works.
All we can do now is keep our fingers crossed. We have the professional expert answer to the question: ‘How long will low grade thigh tear keep Nayef Aguerd out of action?
Now it will just be a waiting game for David Moyes and everyone involved with West Ham.
