David Moyes will have a huge problem unless he starts playing to isolated West Ham United ace Gianluca Scamacca’s strengths.

The 23-year-old Italian joined the Hammers in the summer transfer window from Sassuolo for around £35 million (Sky Sports).

Scamacca has struggled to hit the ground running since moving to the London Stadium though.

And as a result, it has been suggested in Italy that he could already head back to his homeland (Italian journalist Ciro Venerato).

That rumour has been ruled out by club insiders Claret and Hugh though.

I believe that Scamacca will have a long and successful West Ham career ahead of him. In order for that to happen though, Moyes must change up his playing style to help get the best out of the 23-year-old…

The Scot has to set up his team with more support for Scamacca.

There are two ways of doing this.

Firstly, Moyes could deploy his two wingers in close to the 23-year-old. Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen could play just in behind Scamacca, in what would be something like a 4-3-2-1 system.

That way, the Italian ace would have players to link up with. His little knock downs and flick ons would become immediately more effective, with one of the two inverted wide players closer to him.

Moyes could also set up his team with more willing runners from midfield. He could deploy Tomas Soucek further forward and have Lucas Paqueta in behind him.

As things stand at the moment, Scamacca is completely and utterly isolated, so even when he does something good, it comes to nothing because there is nobody in and around him.

That subsequently means that Scamacca is entirely reliant on producing a moment of brilliance to score a goal.

Hopefully David Moyes mixes things up with his West Ham team when Premier League football resumes.

The Italian striker is one of the very best around, but if the Scot carries on with his current setup, he will be destined to fail at the London Stadium.
