David Moyes now has to play West Ham’s £10m summer signing Thilo Kehrer in a completely new position.
The Hammers signed the 26-year-old Germany international from Paris Saint-German for around £10 million in the summer transfer window (The Sun).
Kehrer began his West Ham career in fine fashion, and was arguably our best player during the first six weeks of the season.
The 24-capped Germany international is incredibly rash at times and he seems to completely switch off defensively every now and again as well.
His lack of composure has caused us numerous problems this season, and he has proven to be really lightweight as well.
An example of this was when he was easily rolled by Eddie Nketiah on Boxing Day at the Emirates.
Maybe it’s time for Moyes to really mix things up…

The Scot should seriously be considering moving Thilo Kehrer into the defensive midfield role.
Firstly, that would free up Declan Rice and Lucas Paqueta to operate in front of him, and get Tomas Soucek out the side at the same time.
And secondly, Kehrer’s attributes are arguably more suited to him playing in midfield rather than defence.
The harsh reality of the matter is that his rashness in the tackle and lapses in concentration will end up costing the Hammers on a regular basis. The Premier League is extremely unforgiving.
The former PSG ace has all of the attributes needed to succeed as a defensive midfielder in the Premier League, and he has played there numerous times before during his time in the French capital.
Kehrer has energy and stamina in abundance and his array of passing really is something to behold.
He is tenacious in the tackle and has great mobility. In other words he’s perfectly suited to the defensive midfield role. Having him at the base of our midfield would massively improve our ability to retain possession as well, with Rice and Paqueta in front of him.
The only problem with doing this would be that David Moyes would then have to sign a top-class right-back in January, because Vladimir Coufal and Ben Johnson have been nowhere near good enough this season, and he wouldn’t have Kehrer to call upon for that particular role anymore.
In spite of that, David Moyes has to play West Ham’s £10m signing in completely new position, if he is to get the best out of him in my opinion.
Defensive midfield is where Kehrer’s future lies in my opinion.
