David Moyes made a brilliant call by refusing to sign one striker in particular for West Ham United in the summer of 2022.
West Ham boss David Moyes has received criticism in the past from some sections of the London Stadium faithful for his dithering when it comes to signing players.
One striker who seemed destined to join the Hammers was Adam Hlozek, but he moved to Bayer Leverkusen in the end for around £15 million (iSport).

At the time, the Scot received pelters from the fans. He was apparently the ‘perfect’ signing for us. Once again though, it is Moyes who got the decision 100% spot on…
Striker’s failed West Ham move – an absolute David Moyes masterstroke
Hlozek has really struggled for goals since moving to the Bundesliga outfit 15 months ago, and he clearly has a long way to go if he is to make it at the very highest level of the game.
The Czech Republic international has bagged only 10 goals in 54 games for Bayer Leverkusen (Transfermarkt).

Whilst he is still very young, a return of a goal every 5.4 games is a really poor one for a centre-forward.
There is definitely a decent player in there somewhere but he’s clearly nowhere near the level needed for the Bundesliga yet, let alone the Premier League.
In my opinion, it’s now obvious that David Moyes made the correct decision by refusing to bring Hlozek to West Ham in the summer of 2022.
It’s fair to say that the Scot has made some poor decisions when it comes to signing or not signing strikers over the past few years. However, Hlozek was definitely not one of them.
