Jamie Redknapp’s claim about West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is the most ridiculous thing you’ll read all day.

The future of Declan Rice is up in the air at the moment. Jamie Redknapp delivered his verdict on the West Ham club captain yesterday afternoon, and ridiculously compared Tottenham to Arsenal.

The 24-year-old England international is being heavily linked with a London Stadium exit this summer, with Arsenal thought to be leading the race for his signature.

Most West Ham fans have made peace with the fact that Rice will be leaving this summer. It will be hard to see him playing in an Arsenal shirt next season, but at least he won’t be joining Tottenham!

That’s not how Jamie Redknapp sees it though…

Jamie Redknapp’s Declan Rice claim is the most ridiculous thing you’ll read today

It will be no surprise to see Rice leave to join Arsenal, Manchester United or Manchester City this summer. Tottenham though? Absolutely no chance!

Redknapp was speaking on Sky Sports yesterday afternoon and responded when asked what sort of player Tottenham should be targeting this summer:

“Declan Rice. Arsenal are in the mix. Why can’t Spurs be in the mix? That’s the sort of level of player Tottenham need to be after right now but I don’t think that will happen.”

Well Jamie, let me break this down for you.

Firstly, West Ham and Tottenham rarely ever do business together. The last time that a transfer was conducted between the two clubs was way back in 2011 when Scott Parker swapped East London for North London.

There is absolutely no way that the Hammers will sell our best player and captain to our fiercest rivals in the Premier League.

Secondly, the reason why Tottenham can’t be in the mix with Arsenal is because the Gunners are sitting second in the league with Champions League qualification already wrapped up.

Spurs won’t be qualifying for Europe’s premier competition this season, and there is no way that Rice will be joining a club who are not participating in the Champions League.

Jamie Redknapp has had an absolute stinker here by suggesting that Tottenham should be in the race to sign Declan Rice from West Ham. Spurs are an absolute mess at the moment and it just seems like the Sky Sports pundit is oblivious to that fact.
