West Ham United target Hans Vanaken has been caught on camera in London but there’s a logical explanation.

West Ham’s pursuit of Belgian star Vanaken was one of the sagas of the summer transfer window.

Hammers boss David Moyes admitted he was trying to sign the Club Brugge midfielder and captain.

Indeed the player himself publicly declared that he wanted to join the West Ham.

Vanaken made his wishes clear following bids from the Hammers and said that he felt it may be his last chance for a big move to the Premier League having played his entire career in Belgium.

Club Brugge manager Carl Hoefkens even admitted he could lose Vanaken to West Ham, even though he desperately wanted the talisman to stay.

But in the end West Ham signed Lucas Paqueta instead and Vanaken’s Hammers dreams were dashed resulting in a new contract with Brugge.

With West Ham seriously struggling in the Premier League this season many fans feel the club must bring in players in January to help stave off the threat of relegation.

Moyes is failing to get a tune out of Paqueta – the man he signed instead of Vanaken, who has has scored five goals and laid on two assists in 18 games this season.

It remains to be seen whether Moyes dips into the market during the winter window. As is often the case, players West Ham have tried to sign previously tend to be linked with the club again in the next window.

Vanaken was captured on the Sky Sports cameras several times in London on Tuesday night.

But he was not in the capital to finally complete a move to West Ham.

Any Hammers fans watching the PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace on Tuesday may have spotted a familiar face in the crowd.

Vanaken was spotted on the cameras several times with his wife Lauren Flemings.

The West Ham target was there to support fellow Belgian and friend Kim Huybrechts, who pulled off one of the results of the tournament so far by beating Moyes’ fellow Scot Peter Wright.

Vanaken was seen cheering Huybrechts on and the pair embraced as the darts star entered the arena during his walk-on.

Huybrechts hit his fair share of 180s as Vanaken watched on.

But it’s unlikely Moyes will be performing a 180 on his interest in Vanaken since the midfielder ended up signing a new long-term deal in Belgium.
