West Ham are prepared to wait until the end of the season before offering Declan Rice a new contract.
The 22-year-old has been quite simply outstanding for the Hammers over the past three years.
He is now undoubtedly our best player and is the most important part of the squad David Moyes has at the London Stadium.
Losing Rice doesn’t bear thinking about. So it is little wonder why the West Ham fans are concerned about reports linking him with moves to Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City (Manchester Evening News).
He is still under contract with West Ham until the summer of 2024, however, and the Hammers have the option of extending that deal by a further 12 months.
Added to that, Rice seems to be more than happy at the London Stadium and he loves David Moyes and the fans. So we hold all the cards.
West Ham insider makes Declan Rice new contract claim
It seems as though the Hammers are desperate to get Dec tied down to an even longer contract.
Claret and Hugh claims the West Ham owners have already made three new contract offers to Rice.
And the Hammers insiders reckon that David Sullivan will now wait until the end of the seasons before offering him another one.
It is claimed that Rice knows a new contract offer is always on the table and the owners are prepared to make him the highest paid player in the club’s history.
If we continue to produce the goods on the pitch and the owners back David Moyes in the transfer market, there is no reason why we can’t keep hold of Rice.
He is absolutely essential to our plans for the future. And the club must go all out to keep him.
