West Ham boss David Moyes might yet make big U-turn on Ben Johnson

Ben Johnson is set for one more chance to salvage his West Ham United career.

According to Claret and Hugh – a website with a source placed very high up at the London Stadium – West Ham right-back Ben Johnson could yet save his career at West Ham.

The 23-year-old Hammers defender has fallen well down the full-back pecking order under David Moyes since the middle of last season.

And a recent report claimed that Johnson will be released on a free transfer at the end of this season.

However, it now seems like he might just be given one more shot…

The 23-year-old could be given one more chance to impress with a start for the Hammers against Freiburg in the Europa League on Thursday night.

That’s according to C&H who reckon that the West Ham academy graduate could be handed a start by Moyes out in Germany.

Ben Johnson staying at West Ham rather than being released on a free transfer at the end of this season would represent quite the turnaround.

I have to say, Johnson quite simply isn’t good enough to be playing at the very highest level in my humble opinion.

The only correct decision will be to move him on at the end of the season.

That said, I’m all for players being given every opportunity to turn things around and prove themselves. I just highly doubt that he has what it takes to save his Hammers career.
