Tomas Soucek has absolutely raved about one of his West Ham United teammates.

West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek has rediscovered his best form this season, but rather than lap up the plaudits, the 28-year-old chose to praise one of his teammates after our win over Sheffield United yesterday.

The Hammers have made a fine start to our 2023/24 campaign, with numerous different players getting the praise for our success from pundits and fans alike.

However, one player in particular continues to fly under the radar – Vladimir Coufal. Sure, the 31-year-old has his limitations, but what he cannot be faulted for is his passion, work ethic and love for the club.

The Czech Republic international has been pretty good going forward in recent weeks as well – he now has three assists to his name this season (Transfermarkt).

And Soucek has highlighted just how important his countryman is to this West Ham team…

The Czech Republic international offered huge words of praise for Coufal, when speaking to WHUFC.com yesterday.

Soucek made it very clear just how much the former Slavia Prague defender has given the East London outfit over the past three years:

“He’s a massive player for us. Since he came here, he’s done massive things for West Ham United. He improved us a lot. I was here a couple of months before and, since he joined me at West Ham, we’ve done very well everywhere – in the Premier League and in Europe. It’s a massive achievement for us, for West Ham and for all of us. I hope everyone, even people back in the Czech Republic, are proud of him.”

Coufal, who earns £52k-a-week (Salary Sport), is a manager’s dream.

He might not be one of the best technically but he more than makes up for that with his grit, determination and total commitment.

The 31-year-old certainly doesn’t get the credit he deserves for everything he does for the Hammers.

Tomas Soucek suggested that his countryman has been massive for West Ham since he moved to the London Stadium and I tend to agree with him.

Coufal has made 115 appearances for the Hammers and he has rarely let us down during those matches. It’s just a shame that he’s not 25 really isn’t it!
