‘We know what’s coming’: Angelo Ogbonna’s bold response when asked about potential relegation

Angelo Ogbonna’s bold response when asked about potential West Ham United relegation this season.

The Hammers are in real trouble at the moment, and are currently sitting just one point clear of the relegation zone in 16th place in the Premier League table.

There are no two ways about it – West Ham are in a real relegation battle, despite the fact that we’ve played only 15 league games so far this season.

David Moyes has a huge task on his hands when Premier League action resumes, and he has already been warned by the owners that results must improve.

And with games against Arsenal, Brentford and Leeds all coming after the World Cup break, Moyes’s West Ham players had better hit the ground running.

If the Scot doesn’t find a way of getting at least 3/4 points from those games, he may well be relieved of his duties at the London Stadium.

And then relegation will be a very real prospect, although I would suggest that it already is. Hammers stalwart Ogbonna doesn’t seem to think so though…

Angelo Ogbonna’s response when asked about relegation

The Hammers mid-season run of warmup games took us out to Italy yesterday to take on Udinese.

West Ham won the game 3-1 in the end and Ogbonna addressed the media after the match.

Oggy responded when asked about the difficulty that he and his teammates face when Premier League action resumes in two week’s time, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

We are focused on getting fit and on trying our best. We know our situation in the table, but there is no pressure because we know what’s coming.

I take a lot of comfort and confidence from those words from Ogbonna.

I like to think that the Hammers players are right up for returning to action and proving to everyone just how good they are.

The games against Arsenal, Brentford and Leeds will obviously not be easy. But the West Ham players clearly have a huge point to prove.

They were well below par during the first half of the season, and they owe the fans and their manager big time.

Ogbonna’s response when asked about potential relegation proves that he and his teammates are ready to turn things around. And I have a feeling that we will see a very different West Ham United from Boxing Day onwards.
