Vladimir Coufal was very impressed by the Neal Maupay goal for Brighton against West Ham last night.

The Hammers ace rued the fact that we conceded against 10 men so late on in the game, however.

West Ham took the lead early on through a Tomas Soucek header.

Brighton dominated us for large parts of the game though and were more than deserving of a point in the end.

The Hammers players just weren’t at the races. Many of David Moyes’s men looked jaded and the Brighton players were just too quick for us both on the ball and off it.

Neal Maupay goal lauded by Vladimir Coufal

The Brighton striker is well-known for his impressive all-round game but his finishing has been called into question on numerous occasions this season.

He silenced his critics emphatically at the London Stadium last night though. The 25-year-old scored a stunning goal in the 89th minute to earn Brighton a point against West Ham.

And Coufal praised Maupay for his strike whilst lamenting the fact that we conceded against 10 men, when speaking to WHUFC.com:

“To be honest, it was an unbelievable finish [from Maupay] with the bicycle kick, but it was too easy. We needed to put in a challenge and try to stop it… so it’s very difficult to speak about it.”

You can’t argue with the quality of the Frenchman’s strike.

It is fair to be disappointed that he was even allowed the opportunity to score, however.

The Neil Maupay goal was a hard one to swallow for the West Ham fans.

The players have to bounce back against Chelsea now. We’re in the middle of a really poor run of form and results.
