Thilo Kehrer makes honest admission about his current situation at West Ham

Thilo Kehrer has just sent a clear and uncompromising message to West Ham United manager David Moyes.

West Ham defender Thilo Kehrer was handed his first start of the season on Thursday night by David Moyes.

He is currently being kept out of the Hammers starting XI by Vladimir Coufal at right-back and Kurt Zouma, Nayef Aguerd and Konstantinos Mavropanos at centre-back.

The Germany international joined West Ham from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2022 but never really established himself as a consistent starter under Moyes.

And he was heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich during the summer just gone.

One thing’s for sure, he needs to be playing more games with the Euros only nine months away. And he has sent a clear message to David Moyes about his current situation…

The German has been speaking to the media about the current state of affairs at the London Stadium.

And he made it very clear that he is not happy with a mere squad role at West Ham, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“I want to play every game. I’m not hiding that. I want to play as much as possible. I wouldn’t call it pressure though because I want to enjoy every minute I get. I’m giving my best in training and preparing myself, and that’s all I can do. We have competition for places here. If you’re not playing then you’re not happy, of course. You want to play as much as possible but, also, it’s very good for the team. Everybody needs to take their chances when they come, because that’s the best way to get results for the team, which will then give the entire squad a boost.”

So the former PSG man has made it very clear that he’s not happy with his lack of game-time at the London Stadium. I really like to hear those kind of comments from the players who aren’t getting games consistently.

I actually think there is a good player somewhere inside Thilo Kehrer as well – the West Ham defender just needs to fine tune his game in order to suit the Premier League.

The mere fact that he has 27 international caps for Germany to his name proves that he is a very good footballer.

And if he keeps working hard in training and impressing when he does get a chance, I reckon he’ll force his way back into the Hammers starting XI at some point this season.
