Tedious transfer saga could resume for West Ham after Arnaut Danjuma made an honest Premier League admission.

The Hammers were heavily linked with a move to sign the 25-year-old Villarreal ace throughout the summer in what was one of the ‘will he won’t he’ transfer sagas of the window.

In the end, West Ham pulled out of a deal to sign Danjuma because David Moyes allegedly didn’t think he was a ‘team player’.

However, Fabrizio Romano then suggested that the real reason why the Hammers didn’t sign the Holland international was because of his extortionate wage demands.

Marca suggested that Villarreal will demand around €45 million (£39 million) for Danjuma.

At the time, that seemed like good value for a player with Danjuma’s quality. In the end though, the links dried up and Moyes signed Gianluca Scamacca instead.

However, perhaps those links will start up again in January…

The former Bournemouth man has been speaking about his future with Villarreal.

And Danjuma responded when asked by The Athletic if he is open to returning to England:

You always have to say yes. You can’t shut the door to the Premier League. The competitiveness of the country, the way that the fans are, the way that football has been ingrained here in the people’s culture — the Premier League is a different kind of experience.

I would actually have loved Danjuma to join West Ham.

If Moyes really turned his noise up at the chance to sign him, he made a huge mistake in my opinion. He bagged 16 goals and four assists in 34 games for Villarreal last season, and has five goals to his name this term (Transfermarkt).

The Scot may well have a chance to make up for that though.

And it would be no surprise to see West Ham linked with another move to sign Arnaut Danjuma in the January window after his comments.
