Star Thilo Kehrer has made a massive claim about new West Ham United teammate Declan Rice after what he has seen.

They say there is no higher accolade than those from your peers.

And if that is the case then West Ham skipper Rice will be left feeling 10ft tall by comments from one of his new teammates.

Most West Ham fans knew very little about Kehrer when David Moyes moved to sign the defender from PSG in the summer.

Kehrer had entered the final year of his contract in Paris which meant West Ham were able to get the German international for just £10m.

And that is already looking like one of the bargains of the season, not just for West Ham, but across the Premier League.

Having played for a star-studded PSG side and with a host of world class operators in the German national team, Kehrer knows a top player when he sees one.

Rice has established himself as one of the best midfield players in Europe with his performances for West Ham and England in recent seasons.

He will be looking to emulate the likes of West Ham legends Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters by helping the Three Lions win the World Cup in Qatar – which kicks off next month.

It will be the biggest stage Rice has played on in his career so far.

‘World’s best’ Star makes massive claim about new West Ham teammate

And star Kehrer has made a massive claim about new West Ham teammate Rice after what he has seen.

The German has told Sky Sports that ‘complete package’ Rice can be the best midfielder in world football.

“I think really for me Dec can be one of the world’s best midfielders,” Kehrer told Sky Sports.

“With his abilities, I don’t see a lot of midfielders with the same qualities and the same range of strengths as a central midfielder.

“At his age now he’s already at a very high level. But I’m sure he will even reach another level in the upcoming seasons and years.

“He’s very complete as a midfielder and it’s a pleasure to play with him.”

High praise indeed! That is some compliment considering the quality of player Kehrer has played alongside in his career.

Rice may be the captain at West Ham but new boy Kehrer is already proving to be a real leader on and off the pitch.

Kehrer showed just how comfortable he already feels at West Ham when he was spotted barking at fans to raise the noise levels at the end of the 2-0 win over Wolves last weekend.
