Sky Sports breaks news that will concern West Ham over new star Thilo Kehrer after confirmation from Germany camp.

Most West Ham fans knew very little about Kehrer when the club moved to sign the defender from PSG.

Kehrer was into the final year of his contract at PSG which meant West Ham were able to get the German star for just £10m.

That is already looking like one of the bargains of the summer, not just for West Ham, but across the Premier League.

Kehrer’s speed, passing, enthusiasm, desire and positional play has seriously impressed West Ham fans so far.

The 25-year-old has already put in a couple of man of the match performances having been thrown straight into the action 24 hours after signing for the Hammers.

It is not just on the pitch where Kehrer is already having an influence, though. His manager David Moyes has been absolutely amazed by what natural leader Kehrer has done behind the scenes at West Ham.

Kehrer has quickly established himself as a key player for West Ham, just as he is for Germany.

The Hammer is a firm favourite of Germany boss Hansi Flick who has used Kehrer more than any other player since taking over from Joachim Low.

He is in the latest German squad for the Nations League.

But Sky Sports breaking news that will concern West Ham over new star Kehrer after confirmation from Germany camp.

“Manuel Neuer and Leon Goretzka have tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of upcoming Nations League matches against Hungary and England,” Sky Sports News posted on Twitter.

Both players have been taken from the camp and been isolated from Kehrer and the rest of the squad.

But the duo would clearly have been training and mixing with the rest of the squad prior to testing positive.

As if Moyes did not have enough to worry about following West Ham’s horrendous start to the Premier League season.

There may no longer be any official isolation period for Covid in England, but West Ham would hardly risk infecting the rest of the team if Kehrer was unfortunate enough to be impacted.

This will no doubt be a developing story over the coming days of the two-week international break.

West Ham face a crucial clash with Wolves on Saturday October 1st.
