A reporter has voiced his concern over West Ham star Kurt Zouma after what he saw at the end of the Everton defeat.

The form of Zouma has been one of few highlights during West Ham’s dismal start to the new Premier League season.

The defender has not been perfect by any means. But he and Thilo Kehrer have consistently been two of West Ham’s better players.

The Hammers fell to a fifth defeat from their opening seven games when they were beaten 1-0 at Everton on Sunday.

It means West Ham go into October in the relegation zone.

Although a jam-packed schedule after the international break will give David Moyes ample opportunity to try and put a run together and climb the table.

To do that West Ham will need their best players available, fit and firing.

So fans may be concerned by something a journalist spotted at Goodison Park.

Toby Cudworth is the head of content for 90Min and – for his sins – a West Ham fan.

Cudworth, like most West Ham fans, has been impressed by Kehrer. But he says Zouma worries him.

“West Ham have at least picked up a good defender in Kehrer, he was very solid once more,” Cudworth said after the defeat to Everton.

“Good job too as Zouma worries me greatly – yet again could barely move in the final stages.”

Zouma does have a serious knee injury on his record from his time at Chelsea.

The 27-year-old had two spells out of the team with injury last term so anytime he is spotted walking gingerly, West Ham fans are understandably concerned.

As he is no longer involved in the France setup following the cat scandal, Zouma does at least have two weeks now to rest up and hopefully get over any knock or strain he may have been feeling.

West Ham face Wolves at the London Stadium on Saturday October 1.
