Most West Ham fans knew very little about Kehrer when the club moved to sign the defender from PSG.
Kehrer was into the final year of his contract at PSG which meant West Ham were able to get the German star for just £10m.
That is already looking like one of the bargains of the summer, not just for West Ham, but across the Premier League.
It says a lot about Kehrer’s performances so far that despite giving away a penalty on his Prem debut and scoring an own goal against bitter rivals Spurs, he is already a big fan favourite at West Ham.
Kehrer’s speed, passing, enthusiasm, desire and positional play has seriously impressed West Ham fans so far.
The 25-year-old has already put in a couple of man of the match performances having been thrown straight into the action 24 hours after signing for the Hammers.
It is not just on the pitch where Kehrer is already having an influence, though. His manager David Moyes has been absolutely amazed by what natural leader Kehrer has done behind the scenes at West Ham.

West Ham are a massive club. But even some Hammers fans have admitted they are surprised Moyes has been able to sign such a versatile international player who oozes class, so cheaply, ahead of more established European elite sides.

“I think West Ham’s name is one that gets bigger and bigger,” Kehrer said ahead of the clash with Silkeborg (whufc.com).
“You see the signings that came in the summer, you saw the season the Club had, and the development in general over the past few years, it’s all very positive.
“It’s getting more known around Europe and in people’s eyes. Everything is on a very good way and we want to keep on getting up and up.
“The club is getting bigger and it’s a really interesting project.
“The team, the coaching staff, the ideas that are here and the values that are shown – those were the most important reasons for me (to sign for West Ham).”
West Ham’s new star is a firm favourite of Germany boss Hansi Flick who has used Kehrer more than any other player since taking over from Joachim Low.
