Reporter gets short shrift from Hammers boss David Moyes when probed on David Sullivan pressure at West Ham.

When West Ham went into the pause for the World Cup it was to increasing noise around Moyes’ job and a fair few jeers from the club’s fans.

Three dismal home defeats in a week to Crystal Palace, Blackburn’s reserves and Leicester have left West Ham one point off the bottom three and out of the Carabao Cup at the first hurdle.

West Ham’s poor form – which stretches back a full year with just 13 wins in their last 42 Premier League games – sparked intense speculation that the Scot could be axed from the Hammers hotseat.

Moyes has been publicly backed by the owners via Hammers News.

Co-owner Sullivan spoke to Hammers News to give Moyes his full backing. But that did not stop claims from elsewhere that the boss is on a knife-edge when the Premier League resumes at Arsenal on Boxing Day.

Majority stakeholder Sullivan also spoke to Hammers News to deny reports that he had fallen out with the manager.

Website Claret and Hugh has long maintained that Moyes effectively has four games to get a set number of points and stave off pressure on his job.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Moyes applauded Arsenal’s owners for standing by Mikel Arteta when he was under pressure during tough times.

And the question of pressure was then flipped on Moyes by one of the press pack gathered with the Scot.

The reporter got short shrift from Moyes when probed on Sullivan pressure at West Ham.

“No, no,” Moyes said when asked whether he feels under to save his job at West Ham (West Ham YouTube).

“I’ve had great conversations with David Sullivan and actually as you get older you don’t feel the pressure as much, it’s not quite the same as at different times.

“What you understand as you get older is you go through difficult times as well as good times and we’ve had two and a half/three years of great times here. And sometimes there’s dips and that’s the time you need strong board members and supporters to get behind the team and everybody to pull together.”
