Hammers co-owner David Sullivan has spoken out on claims of a bust-up with David Moyes at West Ham after a shock report.

West Ham fans woke up to a fresh round of speculation over the future of Moyes on Tuesday morning.

Football Insider ran an exclusive story claiming Moyes is “close to getting the sack at West Ham” after a fall-out with majority stakeholder Sullivan.

The website claims Moyes has had an increasingly tense relationship with Sullivan and “the manager’s power base has been diluted this year”.

“At the heart of the discord is disagreements over transfers, with Sullivan and Moyes at odds over player signings and how they should be sourced,” Football Insider claims.

That was at odds with what Sullivan told Hammers News last month as he spoke out to give Moyes his and the board’s backing.

And it seems that very much remains the case.

Because Sullivan has spoken out on claims of a bust-up with Moyes at West Ham after the shock report.

Hammers News put the report to the West Ham chief and he was unequivocal in his response.

“Rubbish,” Sullivan told Hammers News regarding reports that Moyes is on the brink and they had fallen out.

“We stand behind the manager.”

So there you have it West Ham fans.

Moyes is clearly under pressure to turn things around after the restart, as would be the case for any Prem boss in his position.

The Hammers hierarchy backed the Scot before the World Cup break when many felt it provided the ideal opportunity to make a change if they deemed it necessary.

So why would they suddenly perform a U-turn before a ball has been kicked.

Things don’t get any easier for West Ham after the World Cup with the first game back being a daunting trip to face league leaders Arsenal on Boxing Day evening.

But perhaps that is just the sort of game West Ham and Moyes need to focus a few minds and provide a potential turning point in the season.
