West Ham United defender Konstantinos Mavropanos could be handed his Premier League debut against Sheffield United tomorrow.
According to Claret and Hugh – a website with close links to David Sullivan, Konstantinos Mavropanos could be in line to start for West Ham against Sheffield United.
Signed from Stuttgart in the summer transfer window for around £20 million, the 25-year-old has made two appearances for the Hammers so far – in the Europa League and the Carabao Cup.
David Moyes could now hand him his first start in the Premier League though, at the expense of Nayef Aguerd.
The Moroccan has been in really poor form recently, and seemingly could be taken out of the starting XI tomorrow…
West Ham man could be dropped for Sheffield United clash
Aguerd has been at fault for goals we have conceded numerous times already this season, most notably against Manchester City and Liverpool during our last two games.
The 27-year-old definitely has plenty of pace and quality when in possession of the football.
However, his positional awareness is severely lacking and his decision making is incredibly rash at times.
Aguerd made 18 Premier League appearances for West Ham last season (Transfermarkt), and despite showing real class at times, he proved that he is far from reliable and way too error-prone.
The Morocco international seemed like he would be a key man for Moyes last season when he returned to action from his ankle injury. However, he has definitely regressed since then.
And nobody will blame Moyes if he drops him for West Ham’s clash with Sheffield United in order to bring Mavropanos into the side.
