Tony Gale ripped into one West Ham United player after our 2-0 win over Sheffield United this afternoon.

West Ham put in a thoroughly workmanlike performance against the Blades at the London Stadium today, and were more than deserving of all three points, but Tony Gale chose to criticise one Hammer.

Hammers boss David Moyes would have been extremely pleased with the manner in which his team went about things today.

However, there was one player who quite simply didn’t show up. Said Benrahma came on as a second-half substitute today but failed to make any kind of impact on the game.

The 28-year-old winger has been extremely underwhelming this season and he just wasn’t at the races yet again today…

The former Hammer was on the co-comms today and he pinpointed exactly how Benrahma needs to do more (Saturday September 30th, 16:42).

“He’s very frustrating Benrahma, he gets the ball in wide positions but very rarely does anything with it. It’s too easy (for defenders) he’s got to do more.”

Benrahma joined the Hammers from Brentford for around £25 million just under three years ago (Goal).

However, he has often flattered to deceive. He never seems to have the confidence to really make things happen in the final third. Now, I initially blamed Moyes’s treatment of him in his early days at the London Stadium for his lack of end product, due to the fact that he visibly damaged his confidence.

However, as time goes on I feel like Benrahma is entirely to blame. The onus is very much on him to improve and to start producing the goods more consistently.

Tony Gale criticised Said Benrahma today, and maybe the West Ham winger needed a kick up the backside like that.
