Mark Noble admits he’s been stunned by West Ham ‘freak’ Declan Rice, having played and trained alongside him for the past five years or so.

Noble will be taking up his new role as Sporting Director at the London Stadium in January.

The first item on the agenda for Nobes will be to get Declan Rice to sign a new long-term contract with the Hammers.

The Canning Town-born ex-West Ham club captain is under no illusions as to the importance of Declan Rice to this West Ham United team.

David Moyes is obviously well aware of that as well, and has regularly highlighted just how highly he rates the Hammers skipper.

In fairness, the 23-year-old is highly-rated the world over, none more so than by Noble it seems…

The 35-year-old forged a really close relationship with Dec over the past five years.

Noble was Rice’s mentor, especially over the past year or so, when the 23-year-old was being primed for the West Ham captain’s role.

And Noble absolutely raved about Declan Rice, when speaking on West Ham’s official YouTube channel:

He grew from strength to strength, and I’ve got to see him grow first hand as a player and a man. He’s become in my eyes, one of the best midfielders in his position in world football. He’s physically a freak, he can shoot, he can head the ball, he can tackle, he can run, he’s technically gifted with both feet. There’s not many weaknesses to his game at the minute.

The West Ham fans know only too well what Dec is capable of. However, when all of his attributes are listed like they have been above, it really brings home just how good he is.

Mark Noble admits he’s been stunned by West Ham ‘freak’ Rice, and that’s no surprise to us.

The 23-year-old is one of the very best players in world football, and the scary thing is that he will continue to get better and better over the next 5-10 years.

Let’s hope that Noble manages to keep one of his closest friends at the London Stadium for the foreseeable future, when he starts his role as West Ham Sporting Director.
