West Ham boss David Moyes admitted that he was stunned by Declan Rice after our defeat to Leicester yesterday.

The Hammers were soundly beaten by the Foxes at the London Stadium yesterday afternoon.

Rice was one of the few shining lights for West Ham though. He rarely puts in anything other than an 8/10 performance for us does he?

The 23-year-old was at his very best once again yesterday. He completely dictated the tempo of the game and was once again our most important attacking outlet, certainly during the build-up phase of our play.

Rice, the West Ham fans and Moyes will be gutted after yesterday’s result. The England international can go off to the World Cup with England with his head held high though, that’s for sure.

And he got some huge praise from his manager yesterday…

David Moyes raves about Declan Rice after West Ham vs Leicester clash

The Hammers boss addressed the media after his side’s extremely poor 2-0 defeat to Leicester at the London Stadium.

He was clearly disappointed himself, but the absolutely brilliant display from Rice was certainly something to be positive about.

And Moyes responded when asked what he thought about Declan Rice’s performance, as quoted by Football.London:

Boy, oh boy he played well today, didn’t he? He was terrific. The best player on the pitch, once again, by a mile. He’s a terrific player and he’s at many times carrying the team because he’s such a good player and we need everybody to get up to the levels. I think we made quite a lot of opportunities from balls into the box but we weren’t able to finish them off and that’s been a bit the story of our season so far.

Rice was exceptional yesterday. That’s nothing new though is it!

West Ham have been far too reliant on the 23-year-old this season, and Moyes must find a way to start getting the other players firing.

If he can’t, we will be in serious trouble this season.

David Moyes was right to praise Declan Rice for his performance for West Ham against Leicester. But we cannot continue to elaborate so heavily on the England international. It’s just not sustainable.
