West Ham are closing in on their first January transfer window signing, with Luizao set to play his last ever game for Sao Paulo tomorrow.

That’s according to Jovem Pan journalist Gabriel Sá who claims that after ‘advanced’ negotiations, the 20-year-old centre-back is London Stadium bound.

It was recently suggested in Brazil that West Ham boss David Moyes has already agreed a deal to sign Luizao in January on a free transfer.

Moyes obviously needs to bring in some talented central defenders with youth on their side over the next two transfer windows.

Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson are now 34 and 32 respectively, whilst the latter has been heavily linked with an exit from the Hammers.

And it seems as though Moyes has already made his move…

The Hammers are on the verge of bringing Luizao to the London Stadium according to Jovem Pan journalist Gabriel Sá.

The 20-year-old is allegedly set to play his final game for Sao Paulo tomorrow against Goias.

We actually think that he would be a smart addition for the Hammers.

Luizao might be totally unproven in the Premier League and very rough around the edges, but signing him on a free transfer would negate the risks involved in the deal.

The 20-year-old is an aggressive young defender whose playing style is quintessentially South American, what with his tenacity and aggression.

He’s a very good tackler and is commanding in the air. It does seem as though Luizao has all of the attributes needed to succeed in England with West Ham.

He is obviously one very much for the future rather than the here and now though. The Brazilian is still very rough around the edges and he needs to really work on his passing and composure when in possession.

West Ham definitely need to be active in the January transfer window. The additions of a new right-back and central midfielder would not go a miss.

Moyes signing a player for the future to bolster his centre-back department would be a smart move as well. And if Luizao moves to the London Stadium, we’ll be more than happy.
