Konstantinos Mavropanos absolutely has to start for West Ham United against Liverpool on Sunday.

West Ham defender Konstantinos Mavropanos was handed his first start for the club in the Europa League last night.

The 25-year-old came into the side in place of Nayef Aguerd, and my word did he send a strong message to Hammers boss David Moyes.

The Morocco international has been incredibly shaky this season, and a recent report suggested that he could be dropped for our game against Liverpool this weekend.

Now Mavropanos has given David Moyes a really difficult decision to make…

The Greece international quite simply has to start against Liverpool at Anfield in my opinion.

He might not be as quick as Aguerd, but he is a far more solid centre-back, and we will need that against Liverpool’s scary front-line.

Mavropanos’s aerial ability will be crucial as well – the Reds have been incredibly potent from set-pieces over the past year or so.

I just have far more confidence in the former Stuttgart ace’s ability to avoid making mistakes than I do in Aguerd.

Moyes has to make a big decision this weekend. I’m not saying that Aguerd should be banished from the starting XI for the remainder of the season, but some time out of the first-team could actually do him the world of good.

And in my opinion, Konstantinos Mavropanos has to start for West Ham against Liverpool on Sunday.
