The 24-year-old centre-back has improved so much since the end of last season.
And it now seems like we have a very good young centre-back on our hands once again.
What a time this is to be a West Ham fan.

Not only do we have the likes of Diop shining when coming into the side but we have five or six other players in reserve who all seem to be playing the best football of their careers.

One player who looked incredible against Manchester City on Wednesday night was Alphonse Areola.
The Frenchman was absolutely brilliant and kept City at bay for the entire 90 minutes.
Diop spoke to WHUFC.com and praised the 28-year-old goalkeeper to the hilt:

“Alphonse was fantastic. I have known his qualities for a long time now and he is not a World champion for nothing. I know his quality and it showed on Wednesday night.”
It can’t be easy for Areola coming in to replace Lukasz Fabianski twice a month.
The Frenchman has passed the test with flying colours, however. He is still yet to concede a goal in four appearances for West Ham!
The Hammers have the option of signing Areola permanently for around £11 million next summer (Wyn Foot).
That is an option that we will surely take up.

And Areola will then become the latest in a long line of superb permanent signings from David Moyes.
