Johnson is a really special talent and David Moyes and the West Ham fans will be delighted with the recent progress he has made at the London Stadium.

His performances over the past few months have been of the very highest calibre. Johnson could be our number one right-back for at least the next decade.

The 22-year-old is quick, strong, possesses exceptional technique and is full of energy, athleticism and dynamism.

Ben Johnson has a great example of just how far young players can go at West Ham staring him in the face in the form of Declan Rice.

The 23-year-old has been exceptional for the Hammers over the past three years and is now widely regarded as one of the best players in the world in his specific position.

“For me, being able to play with Dec is very special and I know every player thinks very highly of him. He’s come on so much, even from playing in the UEFA European Championship Final last summer to this season. He’s an immense footballer and it does give me and the rest of the boys the belief, in the future, if anyone gets the call-up to go into the England first team, we’ll able to stand firm and continue that form when we go back to our Club.”

Johnson is right.

Declan Rice really is an immense player.

We are so lucky to have him at the London Stadium and David Moyes and the owners should be doing absolutely everything within their power to keep him there.

Our chances of making real progress as a football club will depend heavily on keeping hold of the 23-year-old midfielder.

Let’s just hope that the owners show some real ambition in the transfer window this summer. Because if they don’t, Rice could well be on his way.
