Gianluca Scamacca offered high words of praise for Lucas Paqueta after West Ham beat Fulham 3-1 at the London Stadium yesterday.
The Italy and Brazil internationals linked up twice in three days, and combined for two goals for the Hammers against Anderlecht and Fulham respectively.
Lucas Paqueta played Gianluca Scamacca through on goal to score for West Ham yesterday, but at the time it seemed as though he would be flagged offside.
The goal was given though, and West Ham went on to win the game comfortably 3-1.
It was an important win for the club, and David Moyes’s men are now sitting in 13th place in the Premier League table, just four points adrift of the top seven.
Things are starting to come together nicely for the Hammers. And the blossoming relationship between two of our best players is one of the most exciting aspects of our recent resurgence…
Gianluca Scamacca raves about West Ham teammate Lucas Paqueta
The Brazilian was signed by David Moyes in the summer transfer window for around £51 million (The Sun), whilst the Italian cost roughly £35 million (Sky Sports).
The £86 million duo are both clearly on the same wavelength already.
And Gianluca Scamacca alluded to that when speaking to the West Ham official website after yesterday’s 3-1 win over Fulham:
I was happy to score. It was a good goal but the important thing was winning the game. Lucas Paqueta and I have a good connection. It’s one we also have with Bowen, Rice, and everyone in the team all together. We found a good solution to going behind today, but Lucas is a brilliant player and it’s a pleasure to play to him.
The sky is the limit for Gianluca Scamacca and Lucas Paqueta at West Ham.
The really exciting thing is that both players will undoubtedly continue to get better and better, as they get more familiar with their surroundings in East London.
If we are to finish inside the top seven again this season, we need the Italian and Brazilian stars to continue their fine recent form for the remainder of the season.
The fact that Gianluca Scamacca and Lucas Paqueta are even West Ham players feels kind of surreal, they are that good.
A big well done to Moyes, the board and Rob Newman for bringing the duo to the London Stadium in the summer.
