The Toon Army will be excited about their future after the recent £300 million takeover by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.

And there are genuine questions being asked of Howe as to whether he is the man to turn things around on Tyneside.

Eddie Howe getting Newcastle job will make West Ham fans feel smug

It wasn’t long ago when Howe was being linked with the vacant manager’s job at the London Stadium.

When Manuel Pellegrini was sacked in December 2019, Howe was one of the favourites to be given the Hammers job (Express).

In the end David Sullivan chose to appoint David Moyes. The Scot’s return to the London Stadium was met with fierce criticism from most West Ham fans.

Moyes has proven every single one of us wrong though, emphatically.

Had West Ham pointed Howe instead of Moyes I can guarantee you that we wouldn’t be where we are today.

We were in a similar position back then to the one that Newcastle are in now.

Thank God we got the Scot in and not Howe.

Who knows? Perhaps the ex-Bournemouth boss will surprise a few during his time in charge at St James’ Park.

His poor defensive record at Bournemouth won’t fill the Newcastle fans with excitement though.
