Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has shared what he’s just been told about injured West Ham United centre-back Kurt Zouma.

The 28-year-old pulled up during our win over Everton with a thigh problem, but he saw out the entire match in the end.

Zouma has suffered with numerous injuries since moving to the London Stadium from Chelsea for around £26 million in the summer of 2021 (The Athletic).

In fact, it should be a big concern for the West Ham owners, David Moyes and the fans that Zouma constantly hobbles around and looks broken, even when he’s not injured!

It was reported that the Frenchman was set for around 4-6 weeks on the sidelines. It seems as though he might be back sooner than that though…

Dharmesh Sheth makes claim about West Ham defender Kurt Zouma

The Sky Sports reporter is well-known for his inside knowledge at the London Stadium.

Sheth usually breaks transfer news involving West Ham but this time, he gave an injury update and highlighted how that may impact Moyes’s transfer business.

The Sky Sports reporter told Give Me Sport:

“We’re told that Kurt Zouma has got an injury, but it’s not serious. He will miss a few games, I’m not sure whether that length of time would be enough to force West Ham to go into the market for a central defender.”

That means that Zouma could be back for our trip to Tottenham on February 19th, and what a huge boost that would be for the club.

In the short-term though, Zouma’s constant injury problems are a huge worry.

It’s no wonder why David Sullivan tried to pull the plug on the deal late on back in the summer of 2021.

It seems to me like Zouma will always struggle with injuries. Signing a robust centre-back with youth on his side should be one of Moyes’s top priorities in the summer, if the Scot is still in charge at the London Stadium of course!

Dharmesh Sheth has made it clear that Zouma shouldn’t be out for too long. Still though, Moyes should dip into the market this month to strengthen his back-line in my opinion.
