Declan Rice reacted in a very simple way on Instagram after West Ham announced the signing of Flynn Downes from Swansea City.

The Hammers completed a move to sign the 23-year-old Brentwood-born midfielder from the Swans on Wednesday in a deal that could eventually be worth around £12 million.

The addition of a top-class central midfielder was absolutely vital for West Ham before the start of the 2022/23 season and David Moyes didn’t disappoint.

The Scot seems to have secured the signing of a real gem for the club.

Swansea expert Guto Llewelyn spoke exclusively to Hammers News about what the West Ham fans can expect from Downes.

The London Stadium faithful are certainly excited to see Downes in the famous Claret and Blue and the players surely are as well.

The reaction of Declan Rice on Instagram proves that the 23-year-old is very excited indeed…

West Ham signing Flynn Downes gets Rice’s seal of approval

The 23-year-old is a lifelong Hammers fan.

So moving to the London Stadium from Swansea City was an obvious no-brainer for him.

Hopefully Downes will go on to be Mark Noble’s long-term replacement at West Ham. He certainly has the talent, passion and background to help him do just that.

Declan Rice really looked up to Noble, and now the 23-year-old West Ham star has the chance to emulate the former club captain by welcoming Downes into the club with open arms.

The two midfielders will undoubtedly be playing alongside one another over the course of the next season at the very least.

And Rice reacted to West Ham’s official confirmation of the signing of Downes on Instagram with a very excitable yet simple heart eyes emoji.

We actually cannot wait to see Rice and Downes playing together.

The ex-Swansea midfielder really does seem to have everything needed to succeed in the Premier League.

West Ham signing Flynn Downes seems like a very shrewd move from David Moyes.

And if the Essex-born ace is half as good as Declan Rice, then we will have one seriously good player on our hands.
