David Moyes has absolutely raved about West Ham United’s Czech duo Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek.

The Scot has overseen a massive turnaround at the Hammers after taking over at the London Stadium for the second time in December 2019.

West Ham were in genuine danger of getting relegated down to the Championship just a couple of years ago.

Incredibly though, Moyes turned things around and guided us to a sixth placed finish in the Premier League table.

We qualified for the Europa League on the back of that and now have a quarter-final clash with Lyon to look forward to next month.

And according to Moyes, two West Ham players in particular have had a huge influence on our recent resurgence….

Moyes raves about Coufal and Soucek

The Czech duo arrived at the London Stadium in 2020.

Soucek was signed on loan in January 2020 before West Ham made his deal a permanent one just six months later.

Coufal, meanwhile, was signed later on in the same year.

Both players have unbelievable commitment and their die-for-the-cause attitudes have seen them become cult heroes amongst the West Ham fanbase.

Moyes raved about the Czech Republic internationals, when speaking exclusively to The Athletic:

“I think there’s a much better mentality around West Ham now. And I’ve got to say it’s been driven on by the two Czech boys (Soucek and Coufal), who have been sensational for that. Honestly, we had to lock the gates to keep them out the place at night. That meant that even the boys who think they’re good pros had to step up again. They were even leading the recovery sessions, jogging maybe half a dozen laps and taking a ball with them. That was their mentality.”

Soucek and Coufal have both proven to be exceptional signings for West Ham.

Sure, neither of them have been at their best this season but they still have a lot to offer the Hammers.

One thing’s for sure, the Czech stars will never stop giving their all for this football club. And their winning mentalities have obviously helped change the culture at the London Stadium.

We’re delighted to have Vlad and Tomas at West Ham. Hopefully both of them will find their best form between now and the end of the season as we look to make history in the Europa League and secure another top six finish.
