David Moyes has completely lost confidence in £4 million West Ham player

West Ham manager David Moyes has reportedly now lost confidence in Hammers right-back Vladimir Coufal.

That’s according to a report from The Times who claim that the 30-year-old no longer has Moyes’s trust to start games regularly.

Coufal was brought to the Hammers for around £4 million in October 2020 (The Sun).

The 30-year-old was excellent during his first season in a West Ham shirt, but has regressed badly over the past year or so.

And now the 32-capped Czech Republic international is being linked with an exit from the London Stadium, with Bayer Leverkusen having held positive talks regarding a move to bring him to the Bundesliga.

And it seems like Coufal’s days in East London really could be numbered…

The Times have claimed that the 30-year-old is no longer starting regularly for the Hammers because Moyes has lost faith in him.

It seems like it will be really hard for Coufal to come back from here.

And I think that selling the Czech right-back will be the right call in January, he’s clearly not good enough to the playing Premier League football anymore.

Coufal suffered a groin injury playing for West Ham against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup in September 2021, but kept playing through the pain for quite some time.

He was then forced to spend an extensive period on the sidelines because of the injury and in truth, he never really returned as the same player.

A lot of players struggle to get back to their very best after serious injuries. Most of those players have gone through things like leg breaks of ACL injuries though.

Coufal’s injury was only a groin strain in fairness.

Now, the fact that he’s 30 clearly hasn’t helped. He will be on the downturn physically anyway, regardless of injuries.

Gone is the player who absolutely dominated attackers like Jack Grealish and Heung-Min Son last season.

The 30-year-old right-back is a shadow of his former self…at both ends of the pitch I might add.

The Hammers have needed a top-class young right-back for quite some time now.

David Moyes has apparently lost faith in Coufal, and many West Ham fans have as well. It’s such a shame because he looked like a real player when he joined us.
