West Ham manager David Moyes has finally made the admission that Declan Rice could leave if Champions League football isn’t secured.
Unfortunately for us though, qualifying for Europe’s elite competition this season will be almost impossible, given our current position in the Premier League table.
And that could mean that this season is Declan Rice’s last at the London Stadium, sadly.
The 23-year-old stunned the Hammers fans during the World Cup when he came out in a press conference and insisted that he wants to compete for major honours consistently over the next few years.
It was the clearest hint yet that he is ready to up sticks and join one of the Premier League big boys. Links with Chelsea refuse to go away.
So could this really be Dec’s last season in East London?

Moyes has always taken a hardline approach to rumours involving Rice’s future.
He has always insisted that the England International will not be going anywhere.
That has all just changed though. Moyes spoke to reporters and responded when asked whether he can keep the 23-year-old midfielder at West Ham, as quoted by The Times:
He wants to win and he wants to play for a really good side which is going to give him an opportunity to do so. We hope that we can reach the Champions League, it’s looking difficult at this moment in time but we’re not just going to roll over and let Dec walk out the building, that is for sure. It’s going to be a big fight and I like it because he wants to challenge himself and wants to play in the big games and he wants to be a top player. I don’t think you’re ever going to hold anybody back from those ambitions.
That’s pretty ominous if you ask me.
It’s clear to see that West Ham won’t be qualifying for the Champions League this season.
And when we miss out one Europe’s premier competition and reality hits, it will then be time to face up to our worst fears as Hammers fans.
David Moyes has made a clear Declan Rice admission. And in my opinion, we won’t see Rice in a West Ham shirt after the 2022/23 season.
